I am a wife, a mother to two beautiful children, and I am fortunate to live off-grid on a gorgeous piece of land in Whau Valley, Whangārei. My husband and I are just starting our journey as stewards of the land we live on. I feel so grateful to be living a more land-based life, having grown up in central Auckland and always dreaming of bringing up my children close to nature. My pull to birthwork, and in particular postpartum care, began in 2018 when I first heard Rachelle Seliga teach about how the health of our mothers shapes our collective health. Her words felt like a remembering of something I knew in my bones. I continued to return to her teachings over the years, and felt a pull towards her INNATE Postpartum Care Certification training.I enrolled in the training during my pregnancy with my youngest. I completed the training as a certified INNATE Postpartum Care Practitioner, and it influenced how I planned and prepared for my own postpartum period.I have had two unassisted births, which shaped the way I think about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. I feel drawn to working with women who value physiological approaches to birth and postpartum, and who are willing to question the cultural norms around how we care for new mothers and what support in this time can look like.
